Château Roubine - Cru Classé

One hour away from Cannes in a little Provence valley between beautiful green forest hills lays Château Roubine - Cru Classé. This beautiful romantic chateau and great winery is located directly at an old roman route called "Julian’s way". What a perfect fit! :-)

We drove there through tiny streets to arrive during beautiful sunshine and 22 degrees at Château Roubine. Great way to start our wine tour!

The Roubine wines mostly famous for their great Rosés are raising stars in the scene, still not as well known as Minuty, Ott or Château D’Esclans. This winery is definitely one to watch (and taste).

The vineyard bordered by a circus of pines and oaks, located in one piece in the heart of the Provence between Verdon and the Mediterranean, offers privileged conditions for the production of high quality wines. Today it covers 130 hectares including 72 hectares of vines. Roubine excels in an optimal combination of cutting-edge technology and scrupulous application of the rules of reasoned agriculture. Which also gave them their organic “bio” certificate in 2008.

After visiting the halls of the winery we tasted all their delicious wines in their tasting room. Don’t miss the take in the view from the beautiful terrace, where you can oversee the whole vineyard.

The first Rosé we sampled is bottled in this unique bottle which itself is a piece of art not to mention the wine inside. “La Vie En Rose” - Fragrances of delicate herbs and flowers. Light on the palate, round and velvety with a long-lasting intensity. The aroma is fresh with subtle fruit flavors.

The next Rosé we tasted was the Cuvée Premium. This wine got 90 points from the Wine Enthusiast and these points are more than deserved! It is harmonious and refreshing, true to the spirit of Provence. In your mouth, it has the effect of a raspberry sorbet. Some aromas of peach, red fruits and flowers are giving this great wine a beautiful touch. This is a great Gourmet Aperitif and also pairs well with Pasta.

The final Rosé we tasted is the Lion et Dragon which is currently not available outside of France is almost a full body wine. You can taste the subtle wood notes from the Barrique fermentation. We are working on offering this one next year!

Here are some impressions from our visit of Château Roubine.

Cheers,

Julian
