AIX Rosé is one of the stars of the Provence. More specifically in the area around Aix-en-Provence. The naming of the rightly hyped Rosé is therefore perfectly selected. We wanted to know more about AIX… Where is the winery exactly, what does it look like, who is behind it? So, we traveled to the South of France to visit AIX in person.
The winery behind the famous AIX Rosé is located about 45 minutes northeast of the city of Aix-en-Provence. A little hidden behind shallow hills surrounded by vines, olive trees, lavender and pine trees. The original name of the winery is "Domaine de la Grande Séouve". With over 130 years, it is one of the oldest and also biggests in the area with 75 hectares. At an altitude of 420 meters above sea level, there are perfect conditions for the grape varieties used in this Rosé: Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault.
The winery was taken over a few years ago by a Dutch visionary. This was the birth of the AIX Rosé as we know it today. With the experienced team from the traditional winery and the new enormous investment in the vineyard and especially in the cellar, the foundation was set for this modern Rosé classic.
The winery is located in an honest traditional Provence building not like others in a modern show-off palace. The cellar however is equipped with the latest machinery, pneumatic presses and steel tanks. The goal is to achieve the highest quality and the best taste, a master class rosé.
One fact is particularly impressive: Unlike many other famous Rosé wineries, the whole focus is on just one single wine. One name, one cuvée, one wine, period! Will full concentration and pure passion they created this one AIX Rosé, without variants, without compromise. There is no red wine, no white wine... just a single rosé!
Numerous prizes, gold medals, 90+ points from many wine critics underpin the quality and taste of this rose.
There is also a small symbol on each bottle that says a lot about the philosophy of Maison Saint Aix: The bottle label depicts the Latin seal of two mandarin ducks "AIX Galericulata". These birds, living together as mates for their entire life, reflect the spirit and passion of AIX: "the simple beauty of sharing".
